Rockfeller Center(洛克斐勒中心)

By Freelance Chinese Translator Li – English to Chinese translation or Chinese to English translation services - based in Harbin,China.

The Rockefeller Center complex was built during the Great Depression, providing much needed work for New Yorkers, as well as reflecting the art deco styling popular during the time. Rockefeller Center was revolutionary at the time introducing the idea of incorporating art work , parking garages, and centralized heating.
Top of the Rock is an observatory(观景台). The upper decks are 850 feet above street level. Views include some of the city’s most prominent landmarks from the Chrysler Building to the Brooklyn Bridge and from Central Park to the Hudson and East Rivers。
The Christmas tree that adorns Rockefeller Center is typically a Norway Spruce. The minimum requirement is that the tree be 65 feet tall and 35 feet wide. Over five miles of lights are used to decorate the tree every year. The tree is recycled and the 3 tons of mulch(护根) are donated to the Boy Scouts. The largest portion of the trunk is donated to the U.S. Equestrian team in New Jersey to use as an obstacle jump(障碍赛).
Ice skating at Rockefeller Center is a quintessential(精髓) New York City winter experience. The Ice Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center first opened on Christmas Day in 1936. It can accommodate approximately 150 skaters at a time and the rink is 122 feet long and 59 feet wide.
