United Nations Headquarters(联合国总部大厦)

The United Nations Headquarters(联合国总部大厦) is a distinctive complex in New York City that has served as the official headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1950. It is located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood, on the east side of Midtown Manhattan, on spacious grounds overlooking the East River (东河).
The United Nations has three additional, subsidiary, regional headquarters or headquarter districts. These are located in Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), and Nairobi (Kenya).
Though it is in New York City, the land occupied by the United Nations Headquarters is considered international territory(国际领土), and its borders are First Avenue on the west, East 42nd Street to the south, East 48th Street on the north and the East River to the east.
The United Nations Headquarters complex was constructed in New York City in 1949 and 1950 beside the East River, on 17 acres (69,000 m2) of land purchased from the foremost New York real estate developer(房地产开发商) of the time, William Zeckendorf. Nelson Rockefeller arranged this purchase, after an initial offer to locate it on the Rockefeller family(洛克菲勒家族) estate of Kykuit was rejected as being too isolated from Manhattan. The $8.5 million purchase was then funded by his father, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who donated it to the City.

Wall street bull (华尔街铜牛)

By Freelance Chinese Translator Li – English to Chinese translation or Chinese to English translation services - based in Harbin,China.

Charging Bull (sometimes called the Wall Street Bull or the Bowling Green Bull) is a 3,200 kg (7,000 pound) bronze sculpture by Arturo Di Modica that stands in Bowling Green park near Wall Street in New York City.
Standing 11 feet tall (and measuring 16 feet in length), the oversize sculpture depicts a bull, the symbol of aggressive financial optimism and prosperity, leaning back on its haunches and with its head lowered as if ready to charge. As author Dianne Durante described the sculpture: "The Bull's head is lowered, its nostrils flare(鼻孔张开), and its wickedly(顽皮地) long, sharp horns are ready to gore(撞上); it's an angry, dangerous beast. The muscular body twists to one side, and the tail is curved like a lash: the Bull is also energetic and in motion(兴奋状态)." The gleaming bronze colour and hard, metallic texture of the sculpture's surface emphasises the brute force(原始力量) of the creature depicted. The work was designed and placed so that viewers could walk around it, which also suggests the creature's own movement is unrestricted — a point reinforced by the twisting posture of the bull's body, Durante wrote. "Charging Bull, then, shows an aggressive or even belligerent(好战的) force on the move, but unpredictably. It's not far-fetched (牵强的)to say the theme is the energy, strength, and unpredictability(不可预见性)of the stock market" ."That bull is one of an edition of five", Di Modica told the New York Daily News in 1998. "I'm hoping the other four will be going to cities all over the world, whenever somebody buys them."
The sculpture is both a popular tourist destination, which draws thousands of people a day as well as "one of the most iconic images(地标) of New York" and "Wall Street icon" — an unofficial symbol of the Financial District which has appeared in television reports as an image punctuating (穿插画面) stories about optimism in the financial market.

Wall street (华尔街)

Wall Street is a street in Lower Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States. It runs east from Broadway to South Street on the East River, through the historical center of the Financial District. It is the first permanent home of the New York Stock Exchange; over time Wall Street became the name of the surrounding geographic neighborhood.Wall Street is also shorthand (or a metonym,代名词) for the "influential financial interests(金融界)" of the American financial industry, which is centered in the New York City area. Several major U.S. stock and other exchanges remain headquartered on Wall Street and in the Financial District, including the NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX(美国证交所), NYMEX(纽约商品交易所), and NYBOT(纽约期货交易所).

(E.I.du Pont de Nemours and Company)财团等开设的银行、保险、航运、铁路等公司的总部集中在这里。
